April Fools!...but really...
Yesterday was April Fools Day and as a general rule I believe nothing that is posted on Facebook, because I will wish you congratulations on your upcoming: baby, move, home, etc...and then I will realize I've totally been busted. I am pretty gullible when it comes to April 1st.
However, when we got a call for a placement, I knew that
1) this is not a joke and 2) there is no way I can announce this today
So here we are, on April 2nd and we have another tiny, precious soul living under our roof. We welcomed little "Mint" yesterday evening to live with us for who knows how long. (Get it "Junior" and "Mint" hehe). He is 3 years old and just so so sweet. He is quiet, but has actually opened up to us pretty quickly. We are happily enjoying this little honeymoon period but expect it to wear of fairly soon.
Junior is doing ok with this new addition. He is used to being the baby and the only child in our house, so he gets to adapt to a new role as "big brother." This is going to be a great thing for him, but it will take some adjusting.
We are finding our new normal and when we find that, I am sure something else will change. Thats ok though, because as scary as this journey has been, it's thrilling. We get the absolute privilege of meeting these wonderful little people and we get the reward of being even just a small part of their story. Many people have started considering us so "selfless", but let me tell you, we get so much out of this, maybe even more than the kids. We love this and it's not because we are "better people" or "better christians" it's because this is fun and exciting and rewarding and amazing. I can promise you, if you are willing to open your heart and home to little ones in foster care, God will give you all the energy, love, ability and patience that you need. We do this not because we are so great, but because our God is so great!
As always we appreciate your prayers and thoughts during this transition! I might even be asking for some advice on toddlers (ok, I've already asked), so if you have young ones I might be hitting you up! I thank you in advance for your much needed advice and ideas!
Until next time,
Morgan
